Store-N-Share

Store'n'Share allows you to use an externally connected hard drive with Bogart SE v3 as an alternative to the internal hard drive.

The Store'n'Share software can save your projects directly to the external hard drive.
If you record a project to an external hard drive you can then also connect it to other Bogart systems, provided Casablanca Bogart Store'n'Share is activated, and edit the project as if it were on the original machine - if on both systems the effects used in the project are also active.

In conjunction with HD backup you can also use the external hard drive to back up your internal hard drive.

Saved projects can also be re-activated at a later date as a working project.

What to do with your existing footage!

Making A Movie –     Hands On Workshop

This is a HANDS ON, practical demonstration of shooting a short film with volunteers from the audience. Involving lighting, sound, blocking, camera movement and post.

As in past years each of the crew and cast positions will be filled during the first part of the week with the actual short film shot Wednesday afternoon. This piece will be edited on location and shown during the banquet. We will be using a Canon 7D DSLR for the shooting. This is a fun exercise where Roger will direct the short while helping crews set up and shoot and explaining why things are being done.

This is a chance to learn from the master. Don’t miss this one !

Adobe Premiere Pro

First we’ll take a quick look at the history and development of Adobe Premiere Pro. Then we will walk through the work flow and interface of Premiere using sample footage. We’ll define what a project, a sequence, and a clip are, and how to capture and ingest footage. Then it’s on to basic editing techniques using timeline editing and storyboard editing as well.

We’ll take a look at Premieres transitions and built in effects and how to make use of them and we’ll briefly look at some 3rd party effects often called “Plug-ins”.

Then it’s on to some basic compositing work using Ultra Key for green screen work, track mattes and blend modes. We’ll check out color correction methods and take a look at building titles and lower thirds. We’ll learn how to work with audio in Premiere, cutting to the beat, fixing audio problems and using the audio effects and transitions.

We’ll explore how to export your finished video into different formats using Adobe Media Encoder and Adobe Encore.

Eye Candy on Casablanca

A session detailing the creation of some 8-10 effects that can be performed on both Smart Edit and Bogart editors, things like Split Screen, Fancy Titles, Transition effects, etc. I am actually planning to release a new tutorial DVD called Eye Candy Volume 1 and this presentation would encompass about 1/2 of the effects. I would make the disk available to attendees of MGT 2012 for 50% since they will enjoy half of these. This program is for both Smart Edit platforms as well as the Generation Three Bogart machines and the cool looking operations can be done on either system and is something that adds value to your work with a modest amount of work. See Ken Smithers for these DVDs.

Jared Staehli

Sony Vegas

A new speaker to the March Get Together, Jared Staehli will take us into the workings of Sony Vegas starting with an overview of the software. Then he'll show us how to start by loading footage and then what the workflow on Vegas looks like.

Because most of us are using more than one camcorder to record events, Jared will take us into how to handle multicamera editing with Vegas. He will tell us about some of the editing features that are built into Sony Vegas and what the system requirements for using it are.

Questions will then be encouraged from the floor.
